Politics 

Politics called him young. In student days, he saw Assam problems. There was Assam Agitation. AASU and AGP were active. He felt for his land. He joined Indian National Congress. It was his first step. In 2001, he fought election. Seat was Jalukbari. He beat Bhrigu Kumar Phukan of Asom Gana Parishad. Win was big. He became MLA. People liked his energy. He won again in 2006. Then in 2011. Margin was 78,000 votes. He held Jalukbari five times till now. Years: 2001, 2006, 2011, 2016, 2021. Record is strong.

As MLA, he got big roles. From 2002, he was Minister of State. Portfolios were Agriculture, Planning, Development. Later Finance, Health, Education. Also Assam Accord work. He handled many duties.
